It was double delight for Carl Breeze as the King's Lynn racer won the opening pair of the Ginetta GT4 Supercup races at Croft while Super Nova International's Michela Cerruti became the first female race winner in the Auto GP Championship.

while Super Nova International's Michela Cerruti became the first female race winner in the Auto GP Championship.

In the opening Ginetta race in North Yorkshire the Bluechip supported racer beat title rival and pole position holder Charlie Robertson to the chequered flag, to claim his first win of the season, while securing the fastest race lap in the process.

From pole positon in the second event Breeze led from lights to flag but was unable to rest for a single moment as Robertson hounded him throughout. In the reverse grid third race a demon opening lap saw Breeze up to second place but David Pittard's defence denied the local man his hat-trick.

'It has been a brilliant weekend for me and a great team effort from United Autosports. I could have possibly made an attempt for the lead in race three but didn't want to risk a non-finish' declared Breeze.

The huge haul of points has pulled the Lynn resident up to fourth place but he will need to maintain his winning form for the rest of the year, starting at Snetterton in early August, to chase down leader Robertson.

Cerruti made history at the weekend as she celebrated the first ever victory for a female racer in the Auto GP Championship, and the first for a woman in a major European single-seater championship, as the series visited Imola in Italy.

'I knew I had good pace,' said the delighted winner.

'We were expecting that I would be quick today. The car was really good, the pit stop was perfect. I really want to thank my team and my engineer everything was really perfect.'

Cerruti made a great start from the second row of the grid avoiding the slow starting Christof von Grunign before demoting team mate Francesco Dracone for second place on the third lap. To the delight of all on the Griston team race leader Giuseppe Cipriani then spun at Tamburello leaving Cerruti to cruise home to an historic victory.
