Colin Lea wins from pole on Diss Mere

Colin Lea won a close and hard-fought match on Diss Mere on Tuesday. Fishing the pole, Colin used groundbait and pellet to draw fish into his peg and ended the day with 4lb 4oz. Second on the day went to John Mears, who also used the pole and groundbait for roach and skimmers and weighed in 3lb 9.5oz, third was Bill Atkins with 3lb 3oz.

Karl Hales drew first choice in the early morning match on the Mere on Saturday in Diss and with it also the winning peg. With the wind blowing into larters peg, it was a easy choice for him and he made it count. Bites were hard to find on the tip, so a change to the pole brought fish to the net and Hales ended with 26lb 10. Sometimes turning up late can have its advantages, and it did for Jimmy Elllis when he finished in second place. Choosing a deep water peg Ellis went on the tip and caught carp and skimmers too weigh in 20lb 14oz. An outing to Carlton Fen was the order of the day for Sunday as Andrew Mears took first place with 23lb 5.5oz. Second was John Mears who found Skimmers, carp and silver fish and weighed in 17lb 4. Once again Jimmy Ellis found himself in the top spots when he had carp and silvers for 16lb 6.
