The players and management of Gorleston and Kirkley & Pakefield have little time to get over their Christmas Day celebrations – they are back in action today.

The Greens make the short journey to Walmer Road where they take on in-form Kirkley, currently sitting third in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division. For Richard Daniels, the 'green' might be the envious glance as he looks at the rest of the fixtures and sees most other matches being played tomorrow – Walsham-le-Willows against Haverhill is the only other top-flight Boxing Day clash.

'It wasn't brought to my attention that the game was on Boxing Day until recently and I have to admit, I was a bit surprised,' said Gorleston boss Daniels, whose side lost 5-1 at Kirkley in the League Cup .

'I don't want to knock anyone at the club, but I'm a bit surprised the game wasn't moved to Saturday when everyone else is playing.

'There will be a good crowd at Kirkley on Boxing Day, so it's a good idea, but when everyone else has moved, I thought we would too.'
