Kirkley produced their most outstanding display of the season and dented Ipswich Wanderers nine-match unbeaten run with a brilliant 2-1 comeback victory writes Stuart G Baker.
Wanderers took a 41st minute lead when a super 45-yard cross-field ball by Tom English found Lee Owen on the left and he shot into the corner of the net first time, past 'keeper Rix to give Wanderers a 1-0 half-time lead. This was equalised by a Judd Chenery 30-yard special which followed an astute Ryan de Coteau through ball. Then Kirkley's leading marksman Chenery, got his second goal of the thrilling match onto the end of a Ricci Butler floated free-kick to the far post to score past 'keeper Stannard to end a great night for Kirkley. The Kirkley squad included six of last year's youth team and gave a debut to 16-year-old Bodie Carter.
