The early pacesetters in Division 1 are last season's Division 2 champions, North Elmham. They beat Stoke Ferry 3-2 away to make it 2 wins from 2. Toftwood Utd. lost their 100% record as they were beaten 2-0 at Feltwell Utd. Mulbarton Wanderers got off to an impressive start in their first match in the top Division with a 4-1 home win over Longham as did Rockland Utd. who beat Saham Toney 2-1. The other three matches ended in draws - Dereham Town A and Tacolneston shared four goals while Redgrave Rangers drew 1-1 at home to Swaffham Town A and Yaxham and Hingham Athletic took a point each from the same scoreline.

Teams from the other Divisions were involved in the opening matches in the League's premier Cup competition, the Ben Smith Memorial Cup. In the 1st round, results went the way of League status except for Longham Res. who won 2-1 against Necton Res. from Division 2. In the other matches, Brandon Town A beat Thurton & Ashby by the same score, Palgrave Utd. won 6-3 at Cockers and Foulsham Res. beat Great Cressingham 4-3.

In the 2nd round, there were three upsets. The main one was probably the defeat of last season's beaten finalists, Wymondham Town A, by 3rd Division Bunwell who won 2-1 after extra time. Bintree from Division 4 beat Shipdham Res. 2-0 at home and Mattishall A beat East Harling Res. by the same score. Other results went largely as expected with Hingham Athletic Res. running up the biggest score of the day with a 9-0 home defeat of Splitz Utd. West End won 3-0 at Colkirk, Dickleburgh beat Bunwell Res. 2-1 and Morley Village Res. came from behind to beat Yaxham Res. 4-3 after extra time. North Elmham Res. won 3-1 at home to Cherry Tree while Saham Toney Res. beat Wendling 7-3.

In the one match in Division 3, Rockland Utd. Res. got off to a winning start with a 4-1 win at Bawdeswell. In Division 4, Palgrave Utd. Res. did likewise with a 6-3 victory at Beetley while, in a meeting between two League newcomers, Swanton Morley came out on top with a 3-1 win at Garboldisham.
