Carp king Ashford takes honours after massive haul

On the local open match scene Paul Ashford (Barford Tackle) won the Barford midweek with 129lbs of carp while top rod at club level was Mark Girling, winner of the Codgers with 113lbs 1oz at Abbey Waters.

The first round of the North Norfolk sea league on Kelling beach was won by G Simkin of Yorkshire with 10lbs 13oz and top team were North Norfolk lads with a score of five penalty points.

Although the big fish lakes are winding down for the Winter the Kingfisher syndicate water at Lyng produced a great trio of mirror carp for Alan Holt of Norwich whose best was 35lbs 4oz the others 29lbs.

Paul Meehan of Fakenham bagged a common and a mirror at 31lbs apiece, Stu Davison, Buxton netted one of 29lbs and John Bryant, Wroxham another of 23lbs.

Taswood Lake produced carp on the 25lbs mark for Vince Greenway of Thurton and Gavin Forster of Norwich and Taverham lake's best was a 25lbs mirror for local Phil Gray while from the nearby river Wensum Alan Brett of Wisbech had a 6lbs chub.
