The run the boys are on at the moment is incredible really.

Saturday's win at home against Market Drayton Town extended the winning streak to eight and I hope I am not cursing it by mentioning it.

We are aware that Coalville Town (league leaders) have dropped a number of points lately and Stamford also dropped two at the weekend. I'm not going to say we don't but of course we have one eye on their results. But we work on the basis of one game at a time and concentrate solely on our own performance.

We have a massive couple of weeks coming up and the gaffer (Gary Setchell) keeps drumming into us all that we are good enough to win every game we go into as long as we apply ourselves properly.

Our seventh straight triumph came at Romulus last Tuesday – which was even more pleasing as it happened on the dreaded 3G pitch. Our last visit to the ground (where Sutton Coldfield Town also play) wasn't a pleasant experience on a team or personal level after a 3-1 loss and a red card for me.

This game was a reversal of our usual slow start, strong finish game pattern. The majority of the first half saw us boss the match and we took a deserved lead from the spot. Like our previous game at the ground Mullers (Sam Mulready) got brought down resulting in a red card for the home side's keeper. But unlike last time (where Jason Turner missed) George (Thomson) managed to convert the penalty.

For the remainder of the game it is safe to say we made tough work of it but the result at this stage of the season is the main thing and we eventually ran out 2-1 winners.

We were all in on Thursday for a quick training session and then a bit of team bonding. The bonding side came courtesy of the chairman as Buster (Chapman) offered to take all the players and management for a curry in town. All the lads get on so well together and there were laughs from the moment we sat at the table.

The first one came at the expense of George who ordered himself scampi and chips! He used the excuse he is allergic to curry and we will just have to take his word for it. It was a top gesture from the chairman and all the boys appreciated it so a big thanks to him on behalf of the whole squad.

We hosted Market Drayton at The Walks on Saturday and it was a classic case of there being no easy games in Evo-Stik Division One South. Like I have mentioned many times previously, the league position of the opposition just doesn't matter in this division.

I took my place on the bench for this game, which I must admit gave me the hump a bit, but it is a squad game and on reflection the gaffer knows what is best for all his players.

It was another stop-start game really with neither side creating too many chances but when we did create anything we failed to make their 'keeper work. Danny (Gay) made one crucial save right at the start of the second half for us and Spriggsy (Steve Spriggs) scored almost straight after which totally changed the game.

We eventually ran out 3-0 winners which I think we deserved in the end. It was good to see Mullers get his first goal after his return to the club following some good work form Danny B (Beaumont). I'm sure I caught him out the corner of my eye doing the famous Gareth Bale love-heart celebration to a certain somebody in the crowd.

I mentioned earlier the vital few weeks ahead of us and I hope by the time you pick up this paper (I'm writing this on Tuesday) we have picked up all three points at Carlton. At this stage of the season the pressure plays a massive part in results and I think we have enough experience within the changing room to keep getting them to take the destination of the league title to the wire.
