Six points were up for grabs last week with an away game against Loughborough Dynamo followed by a home match against Halesowen.

Both were hard-fought encounters, but we managed to pick up three points from each, extending our run to just one loss in the league. I'm sure everyone will agree it's been an amazing effort and achievement from the whole squad and management team.

This has also been reflected by the gaffer (Gary Setchell) picking up October's manager of the month award, which is thoroughly deserved. I must say it's been great to play for him so far.

Back to on-pitch activities, Tuesday's clash at Loughborough was not the usual game of two halves as people say, but more like a match of three thirds. I think in the first 30 minutes we played as well as we have all season. The passing and work rate was top drawer.

We went ahead early with JT (Jamie Thurlbourne) scoring his first goal of the term. I have commented in previous columns how sweet his left foot is and when he catches a shot like he did last week it will take a very good save to stop it.

That put us one up, and then it was all about a lad who has stuck with it this season and is now in great form. I'm really happy for Danny (Beaumont). He is a great lad and his quality was never questioned in our changing room and now the goals are starting to come for him.

His first of the night (our second) came from a great bit of skill and a great finish with his weaker foot. Their 'keeper might be disappointed with his second, but we will take it.

We were cruising at 3-0, but paid for taking our foot off the gas. They controlled the second third of the game and made it 3-3, scoring goals either side of the break.

It shouldn't take what happened for us to start playing our football again and we won't be able to keep getting away with it. But we did as Dunks (Russell Dunkley) and Quigz (Dan Quigley) scored to help us run out 5-3 winners. Maybe it was a bit harsh on them, but I think we did enough to pick up the win.

It was the least our once again fantastic away support deserved. All the lads are aware of the miles our fans are asked to travel and once again I have to express how much we all appreciate your support.

The second win of the week came against Halesowen – another giant club at this level. And again it was a game we seemed to be in control of, but made harder work of than we should have.

We were good value for our lead after Spriggsy (Steve Spriggs) carried on his impressive goal-scoring run. I think teams have sat up and taken notice of his record this season and are trying to limit his influence, but he still keeps finding the net. When they do this it gives Watto (Ross Watson) licence to get forward and I think his form has been really good, especially in the last few games.

After getting our noses in front we let them get back into the game, but we always feel we have another goal in us. Danny B bagged his third goal in seven days before Turns (Jason Turner) came off the bench to score the winner at 2-2. It was a great finish from a top goalscorer.

We have huge confidence that we will score goals, but we need to show a bit more maturity and shut up shop when we get ourselves in winning positions. However, despite doing things the hard way, a win's a win.

This week we have Eastbourne in the FA Trophy on Saturday and Sutton Coldfield away in the league on Tuesday. The Trophy game is a terrific tie for the lads and the club. Hopefully we will have another great turnout and our 12th man can inspire the lads to another upset.
