As players, from one to 17 over the last two matches, it hasn't been good enough. The gaffer picks a team to win the game, but once we cross that white line it's down to us.

We didn't work hard enough on Saturday against Desborough and we let him and the fans down. We win and lose as a team and collectively we didn't do enough. We simply didn't produce the goods and it was so disappointing.

As captain I hold my hands up and take the blame. I'm big enough to take the criticism and we deserved it on Saturday. It was our worst display since I've been here – and my worst individually. For that I apologise. But we're one big dressing room and it's vital we stick together.

You have ups and downs in life and football. We've been through more than our fair share on and off the pitch this season. But you need strong people to get you through them and the boss (Gary Setchell) is that man.

We've had two bad 90 minutes in the league since the gaffer took over full time. He's only been on his own for seven months and in my eyes he's a great young manager – the best I've had in non-league football.

He's the right person to be in charge. He does everything he can for us, on and off the pitch, and we let him down at the weekend. It wasn't his fault we played so badly, it was ours.

He comes in for criticism when things go wrong and he takes it on the chin, but that criticism should be levelled at us. We're happy to take the plaudits so we've got to take the flak.

Football is a rollercoaster. For six weeks you're up, for one you're down, then you're buzzing again because you've gone on a great run. That's football. That's reality. We never turn up to a game with the intention of playing badly.

I work on a building site from Monday to Friday to be able to play my football. Playing is what we live for. But it's not all glory and FA Cup games and you have these horrible moments at any level – be it the Premier League or Sunday League.

We've had many more better experiences than we have bad this season. When you draw a game at King's Lynn it's like a loss. The changing room was a morgue at the weekend because of the result and the fact we knew we'd let ourselves down.

We had a bad day at the office and we need to put it right and go again. Everyone is entitled to their opinion about how and why it went wrong – after all, opinions make the world go round. I'm happy to give mine out and I'll take others, as long as they're not personal.

Every fan will criticise as they're passionate. I spoke to a few after the game. They said what they had to say. I said what I had to say. We shook hands and now we move on.

I'm thankful for all of the support we've had and it was brilliant again at the weekend. We hope the proper fans, who have been there all season, stick with us and travel in numbers to Cogenhoe and give us a good reception.

We're still in with a chance of winning silverware. We've got a cup final to look forward to and you never know what could happen in the league yet either.

We are desperate to put the wrongs right – for us, for the fans and more importantly for the gaffer. He's the man who brought most of us to this club and we owe it to him to deliver.

We want to go out with a bang, pick up three points, and move on to that cup final against St Ives Town. It's won't be easy, but we're desperate for some silverware.

I'm a firm believer of enjoying football while it's here. It won't be long before the season is over and we'll all be itching to come back and play. We're desperate to end on a high.
