Norwich City's final home friendly of their pre-season schedule will have a distinctly nostalgic feel to it, with Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem visiting Norfolk.

The First Division side last played at Carrow Road in 1993, kicking off City's historic UEFA Cup run.

Vitesse visit the Canaries on Friday, August 3 (kick-off 7.45pm), wrapping-up Norwich's pre-season campaign ahead of the big kick-off at Preston North End the following weekend.

City club liaison Bryan Gunn played in both matches against Vitesse back in 1993, and he believed they provided the perfect warm-up for the Championship kick off eight days later.

"It will be a big test," said Gunn, who kept two clean sheets against the Vitesse side of 1993, which contained the likes of Raymond Van Der Gouw, Phillip Cocu and Glenn Helder.

"It's on the Friday before the following Saturday start, and that was the reason for getting tough games in, to build-up gradually. We've got a game away at Exeter and then we've got some games at local level between King's Lynn and Lowestoft and then obviously a couple of games in Holland.

"It culminates with a big game against West Ham and we just felt that more opposition of that nature would put the boys in a good state. It's going to be a tough pre-season but hopefully come the end of it it will see us starting off quickly in the Championship."

t Tickets for the game go on sale to season ticket holders from 9am Wednesday June 20.

The upper tiers of both the Barclay, Norwich and Peterborough Stand and Norwich Union Community Stand will be closed for this match. Season ticket holders with seats in these areas will offered the chance to relocate to other areas for this match.

Tickets then go on general sale from Wednesday, June 27, and are also on sale at the Norwich City stand at the Royal Norfolk Show.

Under 16s can attend the game from £1, with adult tickets priced between £6 and £10.

t Tickets for City's other home friendly, against West Ham United on Tuesday, July 31 (kick off 7.45pm), go on general sale from June 25.
