Buzzers doing the trick at Rocklands

The key word at Rocklands Mere Fishery has been 'buzzers' – with fish gorging themselves on this sub-surface phenomenon there has been plenty of extremely high catch returns.

By far and away the most effective method over the last few days has been fishing a static buzzer or two into the wind. The fish have followed the wind as they do at this time of year and although we've had some sunshine to deal with, even on the bright days fish have been taken just under the surface.

Pray for overcast or hazy days and fish will freely rise to emergers; patterns such as black Shipmans or cdc buzzers come into their own.

Recent stand out returns include Lester Bishop from Harlow who banked 13 rainbows and a brown on Saturday using small buzzers, Andy Hunt with seven rainbows from the opposite end of the lake and Kevin Southey with 12 on Friday.

Olive nymphs have also been working well.
