Ant and Dec, Torvill and Dean, Morecambe and Wise, Laurel and Hardy – just some of the most famous double acts the world has seen.

It almost seems unthinkable to imagine one without the other. They come as a pair and like all good marriages, their best results have been achieved by working together.

Countless football teams have built their sides around outstanding partnerships – be it in defence, a la Tony Adams and Steve Bould, in midfield – Roy Keane and Paul Scholes – or the deadly 'SAS' Alan Shearer and Teddy Sheringham duo up front for England.

Their happy matrimony often inspired their team to great times. And now King's Lynn Town could be walked up the aisle to glory by arguably the best partnership the re-formed club has seen.

Step forward Richard Bunting and Dan Quigley.

The central midfield pair arrived at The Walks having inspired Long Buckby to a United Counties League Premier Division title.

They did so by pipping the Linnets to the post after, in large, a 2-1 victory over Gary Setchell's side in April when Quigley and Bunting absolutely overpowered, outworked and out-thought Danny White and Luke Thurlbourne.

Maybe not individually. But as a pair - and the Lynn boss knew it. It's why he moved swiftly to sign the duo who have played together for the best part of four or five years.

On Saturday, during Lynn's 3-0 home win over Romulus, they showed once again why they should be known as Mr and Mrs Bunting.

The experienced, composed and classy Lynn skipper lets his younger counterpart Quigley bound around the pitch like a terrier while he keeps things ticking over.

His positioning is better than 'Quigz', as is his passing and his ability to dictate the tempo of his side's play. But for what the 'holder' Bunting lacks in the tackle and energy stakes, Quigley more than makes up for by snapping into tackles and working from box-to-box.

Russell Dunkley put Lynn 1-0 up before he set up Steve Spriggs for his second. However, it was Quigley who regained possession with a tackle. Jason Lee added a third before Bunting was taken off and recieved a standing ovation.

For the remaining 30 minutes, Quigley looked lost without his sidekick. They know each other's game inside out. Simply, if both remain fit, their relationship in Lynn colours will be as beautifully successful as it was during their Buckby days.
