Bungay and Waveney Valley Golf Club have unveiled new changing room facilities which form part of an ambitious new five year plan.

The club, which was founded in 1889, boasts a healthy membership of around 540 - but officials certainly aren't resting on their laurels.

Speaking at the opening of the new changing rooms Ruth Reynard, chair of the club's management committee, commented: 'Here at Bungay and Waveney we are dedicated to providing the best possible experience for our valued members and guests.

'Results in our last member's survey showed a high level of satisfaction with our course, however it was clear people were not as happy with the quality of our old changing room facilities.

'The committee recognised this and we have now acted to address it. We are delighted with these new and improved facilities and it will further enhance the quality of what we offer as a club'

Going on to talk about the club's new strategic plan, she added: 'There is no doubt it has been a challenging environment for the golf industry over the last 10 years or so. We have continued to perform well but certainly can't rest on our laurels and it is vital to have a clear, long term plan. We must now work even harder to continue to grow our business and adapt to the fast and ever changing customer landscape.'

As part of their plan, the club are aiming to attract more members and visitors, with a particular focus on women and a younger demographic, including growing the junior section.

Improving the course further, to maintain the current standards, is another priority.

There will also be a focus on member retention and the club have recently launched a new member benefits package, which includes savings and cash back for members when shopping at various big name brands.

For adults wishing to start learning golf at Bungay and Waveney Valley, or get back into the game after a period not playing, the club run four week beginner group 'Get into golf' sessions and a full 'beginner to golfer' pathway is in place.
