King's Lynn Stars rider Lewis Kerr's hopes of reaching the British final came to an end tonight.

The Heacham-based ace picked up five points from as many rides during the first semi-final at Sheffield but it wasn't enough to see him finish in a top-seven qualifying position.

The reserve – picked along with Lewis Rose by Lynn during the Elite League Fast Track Draft – got off to the worst possible start by coming last in his first two heats. He won his third, beating Adam Roynon, Josh Bates and Ashley Morris, and added two points to his tally next time out to keep his dreams of progressing alive.

But another fourth in heat 17 ended his hopes of reaching this summer's showcase meeting at Wolverhampton's Monmore Green circuit on June 16.

Birmingham's Danny King (14 points) won the meeting and will be joined in the final by his team-mate Ben Barker (13), Belle Vue duo Craig Cook (13) and Scott Nicholls (12), former Stars and now Leicester Lions slider Simon Stead (10), Coventry's Grand Prix star Chris Harris (8) and home favourite Roynon (8).
