Bravehearts call from Grant

Norwich City manager Peter Grant wants his side to become braver in the coming weeks as he looks to arrest his side's losing run.

The Canaries have lost the last three consecutive league games but Grant wants his City players to stay mentally strong as they bid to put their alarming form behind them away at Wolves on Saturday.

Grant will be hoping the Canaries can put together a similar run to this stage last season when Norwich won five on the spin to alleviate the pressure on then manager Nigel Worthington.

This proved to be a stay of execution for the Northern Irishman but Grant is adamant his players will be ready for this weekend's trip to Molineux.

“I want my players to attack every game,” he said. “On Saturday (against Southampton) we didn't start the game well and I just feel that some of my players let their confidence be affected too easily.

“I feel that the players have got to be braver in everything that they do and not be afraid to make mistakes. I just think that some players lose confidence too quickly sometimes, making it difficult for them to play their natural game.”

Grant said he is trying to drum into his players every day in training that they should not be afraid to make a mistake.

“Mistakes are part and parcel of football and I have to get my players to understand that there won't be any dramatic repercussions if they do make an error,” he said.

“If Ronaldinho didn't try the difficult passes that he does then he wouldn't be half the player he is. The key is for my players to keep trying things and then the quality of our play will improve.”

Norwich go into this weekend's match against Mick McCarthy's men without a goal at Molineux for eight years but Grant believes his players will be well up for the games over the Christmas period.

“They have to be braver and they will be braver. If we can do that then you can bet that good performances will follow.”
