Bowthorpe-based Morello Racing outdid their excellent home round victory at Snetterton last time – with two riders on the podium at Knockhill on Sunday.

It was the Norwich squad's best meeting of the year in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000s, with Josh Elliott following his Snetterton win with a third victory of the season and extending his championship lead in the process, while team-mate John Ingram took an equally excellent third.

'It's awesome to win again and with both (title rivals) crashing out, I've been able to gain some good points,' said Elliott. 'I was afraid Luke (Quigley) and Michael (Robertson) might get between Alastair and myself, which is exactly what happened.

'I kept calm though and tried to be as consistent as possible, and it paid off.

'We've extended our title lead by a good chunk and maintaining consistency is what you need to do to win these Championships, so we'll keep plugging away.'

Seeley had taken pole from Elliott after severe rain had damaged the Scottish track and prevented the second qualifying run. But when he crashed out on lap four, it handed the Ballinamallard rider the lead. Despite coming under intense pressure from Quigley and Robertson, the 21-year old took the win from the latter by six seconds.

Closest championship rival Kennaugh crashed out on lap 10, meaning Elliott's championship lead now stands at 37 points.

Starting from his best grid position of the year so far in seventh, Ingram clocked up the places before Quigley's exit handed him the final podium position.

'I'm absolutely made with this result and it's the fruition of all our hard work,' added Ingram. 'I've been getting stronger with each and every round, gelling more and more with the bike and the team, so a big thanks to Steve for sticking by me.

'I think this will be the turning point in our season and while I might not be the youngest rider on the grid, I can still give these youngsters a run for their money.'
