King's Lynn Town boss Gary Setchell was furious at the way his club's 100pc start to the term came to an end at Stamford.

The Linnets' miserable run at Kettering Road continued as they lost 2-1 against a side who also went into the game having won all of their three opening Evo-Stik Premier Division matches. Yet, Setchell's main anger was reserved for those players who gifted the Daniels their winner with a piece of schoolboy defending.

Lynn's manager said: 'I'm furious. Their lad had a free header and then he (Nabil Shariff) tapped it in from three yards out because my players didn't play to the whistle. You're taught that when you're five years old.

'All the coaching, all the hard work we put in first half, and we're undone because three, four, five of my players stopped because they thought it had gone out of play and the ref hasn't blown his whistle. It happened last season at FC (United), it cost us a goal, and it's cost us another goal now.'

Defender Sam Brooks' first Lynn goal had put Town in front on Monday. But they conceded twice after the break to taste their maiden defeat.

'Nine points from 12 is not a bad start but I believe we perhaps left one or three at Stamford,' Setchell, whose men host Trafford on Saturday, also told his club's YouTube channel.

'It's no good winning your first three if you lose your next three is it? We've got ourselves in a decent position and I want to kick on. I don't want to lose football matches. But when the dust has settled I'll probably reflect on the first four games and be reasonably happy.'
