Borrett targets cup win

Norwich and Horsford play each other twice in the space of two days this weekend as their EAPL clash tomorrow is followed by a Carter Cup meeting on Sunday.
And while Norwich skipper Chris Borrett is hoping for a double success, he admits if he had to choose, he would take a cup win over a league victory.
“I want to do well in the league and get as high up as we can, but to be honest I can't see us winning it,” he said. “I would like us to progress in the cup so I would have to choose that game if you put me on the spot, but that will not detract from our performance in the league game. I'm happy to play them twice in two days because it sets it up for a good weekend of cricket.”
Two clubs, Garboldisham and Dersingham, dropped out of the Carter Cup at the first round stage because they could not raise strong enough sides, but Borrett feels that the competition offers a good chance for smaller clubs to test themselves against stronger opposition. He said: “It is disappointing if some sides don't want to play against the bigger sides - from their perspective I would think they would like to test themselves against the best cricketers in Norfolk and there have been enough instances of sides beating the big boys.
“I don't know whether it is to do with lifestyles changing and people not wanting to play Sunday cricket, but at the end of the day we are all amateurs and we just want to play.”
Norwich's overseas paceman Surappulige Malinga could miss both games this weekend after straining a muscle in his side, but he hopes to be fit by next weekend. Borrett will be able to call up Ali Horsley as a direct replacement.
