Jordan Blyth's hat trick helped the Planters to a convincing victory which lifts them up two places to 16th in the Ridgeons Premier Division.

It was United's first-ever meeting with Debenham LC at Plantation Park,

United manager Paul Chick was pleased with the win, achieved with an unchanged team, a rarity this season. 'We caught them on the back foot early on and took full advantage.

'I was disappointed we conceded straight after the break but I'm delighted with the four goals and the three points.'

Blyth set the Planters on the path to victory with two early goals and Paul Atkins made it three just before the interval. Ian Gedny grabbed one back for Debenham five minutes after the break only for Blyth to complete his hat-trick halfway through the second half.

There were just four minutes on the clock when the Planters opened the scoring, Lee Hunter's corner was cleared back to the winger and this time his cross found Steve Shipley at the far post and his header into the danger zone was touched home by Blyth from close range.

Straight from the kick-off Ben Nower had to dive low to his left to keep out a firm shot from Gedny.

The Planters doubled their advantage after seven minutes, Claydon flicking on a long ball forward setting Blyth free, under pressure his first shot saw Debenham keeper Louis Johnson save but Blyth followed up to net from an acute angle.

Shipley, Atkins, Hunter and Jamie Wilson all went close for the Planters before Debenham started to show signs and a Gedny shot was scrambled wide by Nower and from a Gedny cross Dale Vince's header went straight to the keeper.

Just into first-half stoppage time the Planters extended their lead when Hunter's free-kick from wide on the right was met at the near post by a lovely glancing header from Atkins which found the far top corner.

Blyth missed the chance to complete his hat-trick two minutes after the break when Ben Furlong's free-kick from deep on the left was flicked on by Claydon but the striker's shot went over the bar.

Three minutes later and Debenham reduced the arrears when a disputed free-kick was headed back across goal by Shaun French for Gedny to net.

Atkins, Shipley, Hunter and Claydon all had further chances for the Planters while Gedny fired over after intercepting in midfield after a rare defensive error by the Planters.

Blyth completed his hat-trick in the 66th minute, Hunter's cross from the right found its way to Atkins whose shot was blocked by Johnson but Blyth was on hand to tap home from close range.

Nower had to make a terrific reaction save after Neil Gooderham's shot took a deflection off Gedny, just in front of the keeper.

Furlong's strong run into the area saw Atkins shot touched wide by Johnson, Atkins then returned the compliment feeding Furlong who shot wide whilst at the other end Nower twice more denied the impressive Gedny.
