Striker Shaun Bammant has warned that Lowestoft Town's strong start to life in Conference North will count for nothing if they allow their standards to drop.

Bammant scored the vital goal for the Trawlerboys in their 1-0 home win against AFC Fylde on Saturday, to make it two wins and a draw from three games so far this season for the Blues.

The victory followed a 2-0 win against Solihull Moors in midweek and an opening-day 2-2 draw at Chorley, in which the 25-year-old scored his first of the season.

'You couldn't have asked for a better start but it's not just that, you've got to keep on going like that throughout the season,' said the striker.

'It was a tough game, we had to do a lot of defending, especially in the second half. There's a lot of things we can work on to improve in situations like that, which I'm sure we'll go away and work on but the most important thing is that we got the three points and the win.

'Sometimes you've just got to do a job if the game is not panning out like you want it to and the team has got to come up with a way to keep the three points and that's what we've done.'

Bammant turned his loan move from Dereham Town into a permanent deal during the summer, after impressing with his efforts during Lowestoft's surge to promotion via the Ryman Premier Division play-offs.

'It's been great to be honest,' Bammant said of his two-year deal. 'The summer was a time when me and Lowestoft had a chat and I was pleased to get a deal sorted and feel a part of it.

'The play-offs was great last year when I came in but it's great to have got a contract.

'The team spirit here is second to none to be honest so we're all up for a fight and stick together so I'm sure there'll be a lot more times that we'll need to do that throughout the season and hopefully we'll be up to it again then.'

His goal against Fylde also came after linking up with new strike partner Jefferson Louis, who also has two goals already this season, and Bammant has high hopes for their partnership.

He added: 'Hopefully the more and more games we get together the better we'll get but it's always nice to get on the score-sheet and to get the winning goal.'
