Champions Blofield ended a triumphant campaign on a winning note last night when they beat Beccles 2-1 in their final Anglian Combination Premier Division fixture.

The Beavers effectively clinched the title on Friday evening when they won 8-2 at Wroxham Reserves.

That left them level on points with Cromer, who had finished their programme, but with a vastly superior goal difference that rendered the fixture with Beccles of academic interest only.

Blofield were determined to establish a title-winning margin of three points however - and after a nervous first half they did just that to delight a home crowd of around 300.

Trailing 1-0 at the interval, the hosts got back on level terms on 50 minutes when Danny Brown swept home emphatically after good work from Neil Hurren and Danny McKail.

The winning goal came on 75 minutes as Brown took his total for the season up to 17 by finishing a move that was started by his brother Shaun.
