In their 110th anniversary year one of the largest fleets of Broads One Design Yachts for many a year was seen competing in their class championship weekend at Oulton Broad for the Sanderling and George Barker Championship Trophies.

The Sanderling Trophy was held on the Saturday in light and variable winds and was won by Jimmy and Jill Tubby in Marsh Harrier, with Trim and Hazel Barrett second in Kite.

Sunday was a marked contrast, with strong and strengthening winds which are ideal conditions for the BODs. After a close tussle the first of three races was won by Trim and Hazel Barrett followed by Jimmy and Jill Tubby and Tony Truman, crewed by Rob and Claire James, in Shearwater. Race Two was dominated by Sam Cole, with crew Steve Evans, in Pipit, followed by Jim and Jill Tubby, with Tony Truman, David and Rob in third place.

The third and deciding race was won by Jimmy and Jill, who led from start to finish. Sam Cole moved up to second place, followed by Trim Barrett. Steve Jones, a relative newcomer to the class, managed to hold second place for a considerable time which was a great achievement.
