Former North Walsham junior Ben Pienaar has signed for National League Two south title contenders Chinnor until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old number eight, a product of the Leicester Tigers academy, was captain of London Welsh this season but needed to find a new club after the Championship club went into liquidation.

The South African forward had made over 50 appearances for the Exiles since joining from Moseley in 2013, having also spent time on loan at Nottingham and Bedford during his Leicester days.

Pienaar went straight into the back row for the Oxfordshire club in a 24-17 win over Barnes last Saturday which put them top of National Two South with nine games still to play.

'I am delighted to sign with Chinnor and help the club in it's ambition to be in the top two,' Pienaar told his new club's website. 'It's an exciting time for Chinnor and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.'
