An impressive display by the Beccles pack was the key to a good win over the London Division 3NE leaders, moving the Bulls up to fourth place in the league.
After conceding an early penalty Ben Veasey-Lark showed impressive pace to touch down in his favoured left hand corner.
Rob Wilson then proved unstoppable from No 8 to score just before half-time with Luke Wade adding the extra points for a 10-3 lead.
Shortly after the break South Woodham received their second yellow card and were under real pressure. A five metre scrum was driven over the line enabling replacement scrum-half Hewitt to touch down for a converted try to extend the lead to 17-3. Marcus Sale was carded for a late tackle and the vistors kicked a penalty to reduced the arrears.
With Beccles reduced to 14 men South Woodham then scored a converted try but the hosts held on.
