Beaconsfield 20, Diss 23
Diss picked up a hard earned win in Buckinghamshire – but coach Phil Sharpe was far from satisfied.
'No disrespect to Beaconsfield, who are really nice people, but last season we would have scored 40 points or so against teams like that,' he said. 'It's never a bad thing to come away from home and take four points but I would have been far happier if we had played to our full potential. We were nowhere near ruthless enough, and that has been the case a number of times recently. We are not turning it on at the moment, that's for sure.'
Despite their shortcomings Diss came out on top in a match where the lead changed hands a number of times. New Zealand pair John Laurie and Nick Harding made an impact on their debuts, with Laurie scoring a try and Harding providing points with his kicking.
George Gooderham weighed in with a couple of tries while Chris Beaird shared the kicking duties as Diss consolidated seventh position in the London 1N table.
