The KK Smith junior knock-out competition reached its climax on a beautifully-presented Eaton golf course.

The final was contested by Bawburgh and Royal Norwich and was a close-run affair, with Bawburgh eventually being crowned champions by 13 holes.

The winning team was Hannah Thompson (captain), Jack Cullington, Amy Taylor and James Bennett. while Josh Emery (captain), Liam Cossey, James Lambert and Sonny Williams represented Royal Norwich.

Amy had a great match against Liam, winning two up, while Jack beat Josh by two, the turning point being when Jack got up and down from 190 yards.

James Bennett beat James Lambert by six holes and Hannah beat Sonny by three holes in a match that was a credit to junior golf.

Meanwhile, Norfolk pair Amelia Williamson and Amy Taylor both made it through to the matchplay stages of the British Girls Amateur Championship at Enville this week before bowing out at the first hurdle.

Amelia was beaten 2&1 by Wales' Carys Worby while Amy lost 3&1 to Elena Moosmann from Switzerland.

Amelia had qualified impressively in a tie for 13th place, just four behind the leader, after rounds of 72 and 72 while Amy got in on the mark after following a 77 with a 75.

Royal Norwich youngster Hope Neild put in a creditable performance in the national finals of the Abraham Trophy, a competition designed to find the most improved young golfer in the country.

Having won the regional event, Hope recorded a creditable nett 72 at Blackmoor Golf Club in an competition that was won by Lotti Wood from Farnham with an outstanding effort of 63 nett.

Thetford Golf Club was the setting for the Fowler Trophy, a 18 hole greensome foursome competition with girls playing with a lady from their club.

The winners were Middleton Hall's Poppy Beales and Truda Foster who won on countback from Royal Norwich's Chloe Gibbs and Janet Clare.

The nine hole event for girls without handicap was won by Jess Key and Anne Ellis from King's Lynn.
