Bawburgh has become only the second club in Norfolk to achieve England Golf’s revamped GolfMark award, in recognition of its work to grow the game.

GolfMark is an official seal of approval for clubs who work to develop the game by attracting new members and encouraging existing members to play more, use business planning to develop facilities, offer coaching and playing opportunities for all and ensure safeguarding policies are in place.

“We were very proud to achieve the GolfMark accreditation when it was first introduced around 10 years ago,” said Bawburgh’s managing Director Robert Barnard. “We are now very pleased to have met all the criteria required for the new accreditation to keep us ahead of the field. Junior development is extremely important to us and our management team strive to give everyone the opportunity to play golf, whatever their ability, age, gender or background. We feel our various and flexible membership products reflect this and feel we have something for everyone.”

Jamie Goose, the club’s operations manager, added: “This recognition is very important for us for many reasons. We are committed to providing a suitable, fun and most importantly, safe environment for all our customers, especially our junior players.

“As a club with a young and enthusiastic management structure, we are very forward thinking and are always looking to invest in new ideas, helping to make golf accessible to all.”

The award was presented to Bawburgh Golf Club by Karen Woodrow, the England Golf Club support officer for Norfolk, who said: “I’m delighted that Bawburgh has achieved GolfMark and that their efforts to grow the game can be nationally recognised. The club has a great team of passionate people, all working together to make golf accessible to all. They have a relaxed and welcoming environment, a clear pathway of golfing opportunities and great facilities for every level of golfer.”

Bawburgh has an 18 hole course at the Glen Lodge site while at Norwich Family Golf Centre there’s a nine hole course, an 18 hole family orientated adventure golf course and practice facilities, including a 24 bay floodlit, heated and covered driving range.
