Diss travelled to Barnes more in hope than expectation for their latest National League fixture.

Barnes currently sit at the top of the table, only one point behind league leaders Hertford, while the visitors are struggling at the bottom.

A huge cheer greeted both teams as they took the field, unfortunately from Fulham Football Club, whose ground is only separated from the Barnes pitch by the width of the Thames.

Diss were outplayed in every department, and had no answer to the pace and power of Barnes' forwards and backs.

The home side ran in six tries in the first half, the only glimmer of hope for Diss being a Matthew Briggs penalty as the hosts led 36-3.

The second half carried on in much the same way as Barnes added a further 39 unanswered points to complete a difficult afternoon for Diss. Barnes, who were relegated themselves last year, clearly showed the gulf between one league and another, and the similar gap from top to bottom in National Three.
