Barnard finds success at annual championships

Norfolk's junior fencers were out in force at the annual championships at the City of Norwich School.

The event comprises combined boys and girls events in foil, epee and sabre in the first ranking rounds, which are then divided to determine the separate matches in the direct eliminations for both groups.

Adam Barnard, from Great Yarmouth and Waveney Fencing Club, was first in each of his disciplines.

Results: Musketeers (10-13), Sabre Boris Ostin (Beeston Hall School). Cadet (14 –18) Sabre Adam Barnard (Gt Yarmouth and Waveney FC), Phoebe Sayer (Norfolk FC). Cadet Epee Adam Barnard (Gt Yarmouth). U12 Foil Jawhar Gabriel (Affondo), Evie–Mae Thorpe (Greshams). U14 Foil Sonny Kidd-Cooper (Norfolk FC), Natasha Peacock (Norfolk Academy of Fencing). U16 Foil Duncan Musgrove, Natalia Rowe (both Norfolk FC). U18 Foil Adam Barnard (Gt Yarmouth), Amber Peacock (Norfolk Academy).
