Dereham athlete Chris Baker competed for Great Britain at the European Team Championships in Lille.

He finished eighth in the high jump with a clearance of 2.12m – his best this season was in Geneva when he made the fine height of 2.27m.

Norwich athlete Clieo Stephenson finished third in the national under-23 100m championship at Bedford with a time of 11.7 seconds. City of Norwich won their home Southern Athletics League match, finishing well ahead of second-placed Stevenage. Southern Counties steeplechase champion James Senior was a high points scorer for the host club. City of Norwich face a journey to Croydon for the next league fixture.

Norfolk will take a team of 32 to the English Schools Championships at Birmingham next week. Among those who could feature prominently are Oliver Massingham in the senior discus and Daniel Bainbridge in the senior javelin.
