Reffley Royals' joint-manager Robbie Back is urging his players to make West Norfolk proud by winning the Norfolk Junior Cup at Carrow Road tonight.

The River Lane outfit return to Norwich City's ground this evening hoping to banish memories of their 2-1 defeat to UEA in last season's final.

Back insists the painful memories of that disappointment - coupled with surrendering their North West Norfolk League (NWNL) Division One title to Lynn North End this campaign - will only serve to inspire his troops when they face Harleston Town.

Back said: 'Last year it was almost as if we were excited about the day out and playing at Norwich's ground.

'The prize was just getting there. Now, especially after last year, the prize is to win it. The disappointment has driven us on all season. You can just see it in the lads' eyes.

'We'd won our league for the past two seasons so we're disappointed that North End stopped us from retaining our title. Now, we just want to be bigger and better.

'There's lots of sides around here, like Bentick, Chilvers and West Winch, who have reached Saturday and Sunday county finals this season. They've all fallen just short. So we're even more determined to win this trophy for the NWNL league and football in King's Lynn and West Norfolk.'

Midfielder Ade Day faced a fitness test on a knee problem last night before Back, and his co-manager Marc Curson (Curly), decided whether to include him in their squad.

Anglian Combination Division Two champions Harleston will be playing their first match since May 1 and Back hopes his side - who hammered Great Massingham 10-0 on Wednesday to grab a league runners-up medal - can catch Craig Trudgill's outfit cold.

Back said: 'We played some lovely football against Massingham and it's been nice to play right up to the final. I think it gives us a bit of an advantage.

'When you play and win you get momentum and we've got it. Hopefully we can get out of the blocks quicker than them and use our pace on what is a really big pitch.

'I couldn't do any of this without Curly so I hope we win it for him too because he's lost the final with Lynn Reserves and us. He's more than my right-hand man, he's a star.

'He's one of the best coaches in Lynn and the guys have so much respect for him. We come as a package and I hope come the final whistle he has the biggest grin ever.'
