Australian Rory Schlein insists he can flourish for King's Lynn by not heaping pressure on himself to be a big hit.

The 28-year-old will ride at the Norfolk Arena in 2013 after signing on a full transfer from Coventry Bees to become one of Rob Lyon's heat leaders next season.

However, after enduring a tough 2012 as number one of struggling Belle Vue Aces, the highly-rated Stars' asset says he will not be setting a string of targets ahead of his Saddlebow Road debut.

Lynn's new recruit said: 'I'm not going to put a limit or number against the average I want to reach. I just want to ride as hard as I can, in each race I ride, and score as many points as possible. If I start putting goals there – like I did last year and I don't reach them it won't help.

'Being me, I'm my own biggest critic, and if anything I hate putting pressure on myself. I think I come across as a guy who does try my best, I give 110pc, and as long as I can do that and everyone's happy, then I'll go home happy.

'It's great to be owned by a club that obviously has a lot of faith in me. Fingers crossed I can keep riding the best I can and I hope to repay it by scoring lots of points next year and in the years to come.'

Schlein, who won the Elite League with the Bees in 2005, arrives in Norfolk on an average of 7.33. Yet it is hoped he can recapture the form which saw him lift the Elite League Riders' Championship in 2010 and get close to the type of performances which saw him achieve an average of over nine for the Aces in 2011.

Lynn team boss Rob Lyon believes the Aussie can shine in new surroundings after enduring a disappointing campaign in Manchester last time round.

The Stars' chief said: 'In the last two or three years I think we've seen Rory blossom as a rider and become an out and out number one at every club he's been at.

'He's always been a fairly consistent rider but he has made that step up over the last few years. As we all know, he's been a sought-after rider and this year has been no exception. I think he's more than capable of doing a fantastic job for us.'

Lyon and Schlein are still waiting to see if they will be joined at the club by 2012 number one Niels-Kristian Iversen. The Dane, who averaged 8.84 last season, wants to return but the move is being held up by his parent club Peterborough.
