Anthony Ogogo's injury curse has struck again with the Lowestoft boxer forced to go under the knife for the second time in the space of four months.

The 26-year-old had a second operation on both his Achilles earlier this month after they became infected during the rehabilitation process from the first surgery in September last year.

Ogogo, who is undefeated in his eight bouts since turning professional at the start of 2013, faces at least six months outside the ring and the Olympic bronze medallist admitted the last few months have been some of the most difficult of his career.

'It has been a bit of a nightmare,' said Ogogo. 'Since the original surgery I just had a feeling that everything wasn't quite right. I was pushing myself really hard in the rehab and after you have recovered from each session the pain is supposed to ease each time.

'This wasn't happening so I had to be checked out again and both of my Achilles had got infected. The only way to properly sort the problem was to have surgery again.

'Obviously I'm gutted but it just makes me more determined to come back better than ever.'
