Norfolk's Alfie Hewett secured home British success on the opening day of the 2017 NEC Wheelchair Tennis Masters.
The world number two Hewett producing a typically gritty performance to win the very last men's singles match on court and the day's only three-set contest at Loughborough Sport Tennis Centre.
Two weeks on from beating the Wimbledon champion Stefan Olsson in the final of the Bath Indoor tournament, Hewett defeated Sweden's world number six 7-6 (5), 3-6, 6-3.
'It was a case of winning ugly today,' he said. 'Stefan really played well, he didn't give away many cheap points. I knew that when things were not going my way I had to get out of any negativity and find a way, because ultimately going into the next match with a win under your belt takes the pressure off.'
Hewitt is coming off the back of victory alongside Gordon Reid over top seeds Stephane Houdet and Nicolas Peifer in the final of the UNIQLO Wheelchair Doubles Masters in Bemmel.
