The first round of the Norfolk CIBA County Bowls League saw last season's Division One and Division Two champions face one another.

Acle A proved to be too strong for Acle B, running out 92-62 winners, their rink skipped by Danny Ramsbottom claiming top rink honours with a 30-6 score.

Gallow A made a winning start to the season by beating newly promoted Shotford A at home 120-43 – Sam King's rink winning 37-10.

County Arts A won at home to Beccles 85-59, top rink being shared by Philip Barr (28-16) and Peter Wilkinson (23-11) whilst Lynnsport A also won at home to Norfolk BC A 78-70, Vernon Hudson's rink winning 24-13.

In Division Two both the relegated teams from last season made winning starts. Wymondham A won at home to Lowestoft Rail 113-64, Jamie Austin-Mills rink winning 37-10, and Diss A beat Woodlands A 101-53, Mike Howard's rink winning 39-15.

Browston A won away at newly-promoted Hunstanton 85-65, Mike Topping's rink winning 29-15, and Pentney A won at home to Roundwood A 73-71, Mike King's rink winning 25-9.

The first match of this season's Norfolk CIBA Top Ten League saw Woodlands win at home to Pentney 63-58.

In their first Inter-County friendly of the season Norfolk CIBA beat Lincolnshire CIBA 127-112 in a match played at Boston IBC.
