Boss Gary Setchell believes the visit of Lincoln United is an ideal opportunity to show how far King's Lynn Town have progressed.

The Linnets are looking to complete the double over Terry Fleming's strugglers having won 3-2 in a thrilling clash at Ashby Avenue in September.

However, it wasn't a victory which Setchell looks back on fondly and the Lynn boss admits he expects a much better display from his promotion hopefuls at The Walks this evening.

He said: 'I admitted after that game that we wouldn't play as badly as that again and win. And to be fair we haven't played as bad as we did on that day.

'We didn't defend great, we were finding our feet in the league, and our goals came from Jamie Forshaw and Rob Hughes who are no longer at the club. We've come a long way since then and that day is reminder of just how far.

'I feel we've made the squad better as the season has gone on and that's what we'll be doing from this season into the next – it's what you have to try and do to keep progressing.'

Lynn, fifth, look set to end the season in the play-offs while Lincoln, 19th, will be fighting until the end of the campaign for another cause – to avoid relegation.

After his side beat Northwich Victoria for the second time this term at the weekend, Setchell believes his men can go into this evening's Evo-Stik Division One South clash in a relaxed mood.

'I said to the lads before Saturday 'let's not heap any pressure on ourselves'. We got the result so the lads should be full of confidence and want to get out there,' said Setchell.

'We've earned the right to go and play with a bit of freedom. We've beaten Coalville and Stamford at home and if we apply ourselves right and prepare properly we've got a good opportunity to get more points on the board tonight. If we do that against Lincoln and Rainworth (Saturday) at home we'll be in an even stronger position than we are now.'

Defender Ryan Fryatt is unavailable for Lynn as he sits out the last of his three-game ban. Jason Lee, who has excelled in his absence, is likely to start alongside Phil Gulliver at the heart of Setchell's defence.

The Lynn boss said: 'Jason had to bide his time because Streaky (Fryatt) came into the side and did very well. Jason didn't get itchy feet and wasn't knocking on my door. He remained professional. Unfortunately Ryan got sent off at Brigg so it opened a door for Jason – he's definitely stepped through it.

'Ryan'll have to fight his way back into the team. I want players fighting for the shirt. What we may lack in Ryan's pace, Jason gives us a bit more experience and a natural left-sided balance defensively.'
