The race to sign former Norwich City striker Teemu Pukki is hotting up - with America an option.

The 33-year-old ended a memorable five year spell at Carrow Road earlier this month after turning down the offer of a fresh deal.

Pukki is searching for a fresh adventure, with recently promoted Turkish side Samsunspor expressing an interest in signing him this summer.

24 hours later and Minnesota United have supposedly joined the race to sign Pukki, according to Twin Cities Pioneer Press

The MLS side are supposedly prepared to make a lucrative offer to Pukki once their summer window opens on July 5.

Minnesota would be able to register Pukki as a designated player with Luis Amarilla’s exit appearing imminent - meaning there will be a spare slot in their squad.

Work is ongoing to also free up an international slot, according to the report.

Minnesota are managed by ex-Burnley, Everton and Manchester City man Adrian Heath and have Robin Lod, Pukki's international teammate and someone he tried to convince into English football, within their ranks.

The Finnish international is currently enjoying a well-deserved holiday with his family and will assess his options once that has concluded.

It's understood there is also interest in Pukki from Germany, Turkey and elsewhere in America, with City's striker set to take his time to mull over any offers that arrive.

Greek side PAOK are also weighing up an offer for Pukki this summer.

Pukki's agent, Teemu Turunen, has begun conversations with clubs and will report back to the ex-City striker upon the conclusion of his break.

The ex-City striker was given an emotional send-off in his final game against Blackpool last month.

He bowed out with 10 goals in the Championship last season after a disappointing campaign for the Canaries that saw them finish 13th in the second tier.

Pukki departed Norwich as their fourth all-time record goal scorer with 88 goals in 210 matches for the club.

The striker believes he has three years left of his career before retiring to Finland with his family.

Pukki is also hoping to fire his country to the European Championships in 2024 - likely to be the last major tournament of his career.
