The 2012 Europro Tour tees-off in Norfolk next week at Wensum Valley and golf fans are being encouraged to come out in force to support the event and at the same time witness potential stars of the future in action.

The event, which is free for spectators, will be screened on Sky Sports and takes place from next Wednesday through to Friday.

The tournament is a 54-hole strokeplay event with the field of 156 players being cut to 50 for the final day.

There are also a handful of local players competing for the 10,000 winner's cheque including Weston Park's Danny Chapman, William Harrold from Sheringham and Gorleston's Alexander Holmes.

'Supporting the local pros is a must but I'd like the people of Norfolk to come down and back the event,' said Wensum Valley professional Brad Jordan.

'Come on Norfolk! Support what is a big event and see some future tour players.

'Some will be heading for the senior tour but some will also be living the dream and aiming for the big boys' tour.'

The PGA EuroPro Tour is a men's developmental professional tour which has provided a stepping stone for Major winner Louis Oosthuizen, Ryder Cup star Ross Fisher and many more.

'The purpose of the tour is to provide young professional golfers with a platform to launch a tournament career, so Norfolk golf fans should make the most of it while it's here,' added Jordan.

'They get to see a good level of professionals battle it out over three days. It's for the amateur golfers of the county to see how the professionals go about it.'

There is Pro-Am next Tuesday ahead of the real action which starts at 6.30am the following day. For more information contact the pro shop on (01603) 261012.
