A northerly breeze on Saturday and a shifty southwesterly on Sunday provided testing sailing conditions on Oulton Broad but several competitors gained excellent results. After an absence of several months, Vince Meadows of Waveney and Oulton Broad Yacht Club won the Sunday Squib race in fine style.

Alan Cone, in his Laser, won all four of the weekend's fast handicap races, the first of which provided some drama on Saturday when some of the fleet rounded a mark the wrong way and in the resulting confusion Duncan Madin, now also a Laser sailor again, capsized!

There was further excitement at a mark in Sunday's Waveney race; Colin Fowler and Mike Beech in 'Speedwell' had made an excellent start and led to the first buoy but then sailed the wrong side of it, allowing most of the fleet to overtake them and Geoff Little and Sue Harper in 'Naiad' went on to win for the second week running.

Sunday's Mixed Keels race also provided much excitement; Eric and Sue Pearce in their Waveney 'Meadowsweet' are only rarely amongst the front-runners but this time they led the 11-boat fleet to the first mark and then held off the challenges of the chasing Waveneys and Squibs for all three laps to score a notable victory.
