It is a name synonymous with family fun, daredevil acts and hilarious clowns.

And for the next four days the magic of Billy Smart's Circus will be thrilling crowds in its big top in Lowestoft.

The circus has pitched up on Royal Green and its acts will be entertaining hundreds of people until Sunday.

The show features a host of international acts, including Portuguese clown Angelo, the Australian Flying Aces, Alex the Fireman and aerial artist Josie.

Sammy Little, circus spokesman, said: 'It is going to be a two-hour show that, from the moment it starts until it ends, will thrill the audience.'

With a history dating back to 1946, the circus became a household name in the 1950s and 1960s and was a television favourite until 1983. In 1993 the circus started touring again after a 22-year break.

Billy Smart's Circus is performing in Lowestoft at 4.45pm and 7.30pm today and tomorrow, at 2pm, 4.45pm and 7.30pm on Saturday; and at 12.30pm and 3.30pm on Sunday.
