GREAT YARMOUTH BOROUGH COUNCIL ARTICLE 4 DIRECTION TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING
(GENERAL PERMITTED DEVELOPMENT) (ENGLAND) ORDER 2015 (AS AMENDED) NOTICE OF AN ARTICLE 4(1) DIRECTION RELATING TO THE CONSERVATION AREAS OF KING STREET; GREAT YARMOUTH MARKET PLACE, ROWS & NORTH QUAY; AND PARTS OF ST NICHOLAS AND NORTHGATE STREET
NOTICE IS HEREBY given that Great Yarmouth Borough Council is consulting on a non-immediate Direction under Article 4(1) of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 2015 (as amended) which relates to land within the Conservation Areas of King Street; Great Yarmouth Market Place, Rows & North Quay; and, parts of St Nicholas and Northgate Street.
The consultation period will run from 14th February to 8th March 2022
The effect of this Article 4 Direction will be to prevent development that may undermine the local historic amenity and character within the centre of Great Yarmouth (unless planning permission is granted by the Council) by removing permitted development rights where this relates to:
• The installation and replacement of new doors and windows; alterations to roofs; and construction of new front porches on dwelling-houses;
• The erection, construction, maintenance, improvement, alteration, demolition or removal of any parts of gates, fences, walls and other forms of enclosure; and,
The painting of the exterior of any building or work where it has been previously unpainted and where this fronts the highway. During this consultation period the Direction and a map defining the area to which it relates, along with other supporting documents will be available on the Borough Council’s website via: https:// www.great-yarmouth.gov.uk/planning-consultations
Copies of the consultation material will also be made available for viewing at Town Hall, Hall Plain, Great Yarmouth, NR30 2QF between 9am and 3pm, Monday to Friday (by appointment). Subject to consideration of any representations received, it is intended that the Article 4 Direction will take effect on 11 April 2022.
