A manhunt is underway in a Norfolk market town after a youth sexually assaulted a 79-year-old woman in her own home as she answered her front door.
Detectives warned residents to be on their guard following the “despicable” crime, which happened near Thetford's town centre on Monday night .
The elderly victim, who lives in the St Nicholas Street area of the town, near to the Rose and Crown pub, opened her door when the youth pushed her to the ground and subjected her to the sexual assault.
Police yesterday praised the bravery of the woman and appealed for information into the incident, which happened between 8.05pm and 8.20pm on Monday .
The offender is described as white, 15-16 years old, of slim build, and about 5ft 6inches tall. He had a well spoken, but non-descript accent and was wearing a grey or green hooded top and possibly blue jeans.
