Youngsters had a roaring good time painting dragons at holiday play scheme workshops that took place over Easter.
Children on Broadland District Council's Tots2Teens scheme spent two sessions painting baby dragons ready for the interactive GoGoDragons! schools trail which will take place in Norwich this summer alongside a trail of 84 adult dragon sculptures.
The workshops took place at Falcon Junior School in Sprowston and White Woman Lane Junior School in Old Catton on April 1 and 2 and 7 and 8. As well as giving the children the chance to paint a dragon sculpture, the sessions also provided those taking part with an Arts Award Discover qualification. Help was on hand from Norfolk-based artist and storyteller Jim Kavanagh, while Thorpe St Andrew author and illustrator Rachael Butler provided inspiration by designing a display board for the children to learn all about her book - Torp - The Playful Little Dragon. The children named their baby dragons Rainbow and Mr Shine.
Hamish Melville, head of economic development at Broadland District Council, said: 'Tots2Teens is more than just a holiday scheme, it is about giving children in Broadland the chance to gain new and exciting experiences. Following the success of the Go Elephants! and GoGoGorillas! we were delighted to offer youngsters the chance to decorate two baby dragons for this year's trail.'
