An air ambulance was called to Halesworth this morning to help a young boy who was having difficulty breathing.
The East Anglian Air Ambulance was called to assist a land ambulance crew at the scene, and landed in a nearby field just after 10am.
The boy was anaesthetised on scene before being airlifted, accompanied by his mother, to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
His condition is described as critical.
