Young and old shine at Great Yarmouth sports awards ceremony

Sporting stars and community-minded sports people have been recognised at a high profile awards ceremony in Great Yarmouth.
The winners of the 10 categories of the Great Yarmouth Sports Awards 2017 have been announced at a ceremony at Yarmouth Town Hall.
The winners were:
Coach of the year - Cecil Page of Kingfisher Boxing Club
Community activity of the year - Great Yarmouth Basketball Seafront Summer Jam
Sporting primary school of the year - Rollesby Primary School
Services to disability sport - Rachel Lacey

Sports team of the year - Lynn Grove Academy year 11 boys football team
Sporting secondary school of the year - Lynn Grove Academy
Unsung hero of the year - Richard Giles of the Ladies at Acle United Football Team
Young sports person of the year - skater Harlee Wicks
Sports personality of the year - master athletics competitor Kevin Burgess.
The winners and the runners-up were chosen by a panel of judges, including this newspaper's chief reporter for Great Yarmouth Anthony Carroll.
The Great Yarmouth Sports Awards 2017 are supported by Great Yarmouth Borough Council, Sentinel Leisure Trust, Great Yarmouth Sports Council, Great Yarmouth Sports Partnership and Active Norfolk.
The mayor of Great Yarmouth Kerry Robinson-Payne handed out all the awards.
