Simon Risi is a regular at cycling events across the country and said he was thrilled to win the prestigious title, taken by a national chain last year.

It means selling up to 500 servings from his set-up at the finish line and having thousands of cups specially printed, meeting the caffeine needs of competitors and the public.

He said it was a huge boost for his company Risi Bici Cafe Deli having only started up around 16 months ago.

Being an official coffee vendor meant being on every finish line alongside international organisations and brands in the “events village.”

Mr Risi, 45, set out his stall a the women’s race which started in Southwold. The men’s race, the Tour of Britain, is a seven day event in the first week of September.

“Every other organisation there is huge,” he said. “And then there’s me: a bloke with coffee van and a vision.”
