Great Yarmouth energy company Proserv is to bolster its East Anglian workforce by 90 people to meet the demands of its manufacturing operation, the EDP understands.

The firm – which has its headquarters in Aberdeen – has recruited 60 people in East Anglia this year, with a view to strengthening its workforce even further to cope with the increased production of its subsea control and communications equipment.

The recruitment drive comes as the business recently submitted a planning application to extend its Yarmouth workshop on the Gapton Hall Industrial Estate, as it continues to mount strong growth.

In the past two years, Proserv has experienced a 75pc rise in turnover from £112m in 2011 to around £196m last year. It expects turnover for the year ending 2013 to increase by about 40pc to £269m.

Meanwhile, it has seen its talent pool grow by around 25pc, from 1,600 to over 2,000, between 2012 and 2013.

David Lamont, chief executive of Proserv, said: 'This growth signifies another major milestone in the successful evolution of our company and one that further reinforces our rapidly-evolving status as a leading energy services company in the marketplace. With a very healthy order book for the forthcoming year and as we look to launch a number of exciting new tools and technologies to market for the first time, 2014 looks set to be another significant year for the company.'

International growth has seen the firm treble the size of its Europe West Africa (EWA) region headquarters in Aberdeen and announce it will be taking on new staff throughout its business sites.

In February, the firm secured two major contract wins for more than £15m worth of work in the North Sea.

The first deal with TAQA for the control of subsea wells approximately 16.5km from the Tern platform in the Cladhan field, while the second deal involved working to control subsea wells using a fibre-optic communications system.
