Students in Wymondham had a taste of life in forensics for an initiative which aims to bring the best out of boys.
The Let Students Shine scheme, run by charity Shine, saw year eight male pupils at Wymondham College don their gloves and masks to solve a crime.
With a crime scene in place and e-photofits to study, the students worked together to bring the truth to light - including making plaster casts for dental records.
The project - which is supported by the Times Education Supplement - aims to deliver positive experiences for young men and sees students selected for a project covering two terms.
It includes three project days, a range of after-school sessions and the creation of a workshop which they will deliver in local primary schools.
The goal is for the boys to become ambassadors for the school and teach younger students.
Becky Arnold, who led the project at the college, said: 'The day was a huge success with students and we look forward to continuing the project and helping these young men shine. '
The crime scene work - the first of the three project days - included the help of an ex-Scotland Yard chief inspector and an ex-prison officer, who offered an authentic insight into the field, and saw the school work alongside Right Angle events.
For the second project day, Wymondham College will team up with Open in Norwich to offer the young men a range of experiences, from street dance to rock climbing.
And for the third, a sell your school auction day will be held with estate agents Arnolds Keys.
