Wymondham Dementia Support Group (WDSG) will be taking around 100 people to Cromer on Friday, July 27 but until last week had no place to eat their fish and chips. That is until former Cromer mayor Hilary Cox offered the group the use of Cromer Parish Hall.

Ms Cox said: 'It all came about after an old friend Dianne Fernnee contacted me wondering if I knew of anywhere that they could have a fish and chip supper.

'Dianne has always worked hard at doing what she can to help and raise awareness of the issues caused by dementia. The Parish Hall is owned by Cromer Church the hire of which is being paid for by an anonymous supporter.'

Group president Trevor Brown said last week: 'In true Charabanc style we will take 50 persons living with dementia and their carers for a traditional day at the seaside.

'We will enjoy a buffet lunch and then onto the Cromer Pier Summer Show matinee where we have reserved 100 best seats. After this we intend to enjoy the biggest fish & chip supper in the county.'

Mr Brown said that the group will pay all costs and organise the fish and chips from a local shop.

WDSG is a voluntary organisation run to provide a safe, friendly and understanding environment for people living with dementia, their carers and their family.

Pabulum Café meets every Monday morning of the year (except bank holiday Mondays) from 10am till 12pm and every Friday of the year from 10am till 1pm at the Fairland Church Centre in Wymondham.

WDSG is providing the whole day free of cost to all thanks to fund raising and local sponsorship.
