Wymondham burst into a display of festive cheer on Saturday afternoon, after its Christmas lights illuminated the town centre.

All things traditionally seasonal were celebrated at the event, a departure from the Dickensian Steampunk Fayre which has been held for the last few years.

Father Christmas journeyed through the town on his sleigh, while characters from the Disney hit Frozen paid a special visit to Leslie Terrace Home, Gift and Garden Shop.

A charity Christmas tree festival was also launched at the Abbey, to which playgroups, schools and community groups added their own offerings.

But the big moment came in the Market Place, when 65 miniature trees and strings of lights - most of which were new this year - burst into life.

It came after a campaign, led by Karen Claydon and Karen Speed, to improve Wymondham's display, which has been branded lacklustre in recent years.
